Yet while watching Sienna (my eldest daughter) eat without a fuss, I had a flashback to those days when meals were&#8230;miserable. Before I implemented these 6\u00a0phases to fix her picky eating, Sienna would spit out food, resist coming to the table, and even gag (or vomit) after a taste of yogurt. I seem to have blocked those memories out of my mind. Until today.<\/p>\n<p>I remember finding &#8220;kid-friendly&#8217; (and seemingly Sienna-friendly) recipes I was SURE she would love. \u00a0Smiling in the kitchen while preparing this guaranteed recipe, only to bring it to the table and hear &#8220;yuck&#8221; or watch Sienna push the plate away. \u00a0So frustrating, but that was an average meal for us.<\/p>\n<p>I never heard her say &#8220;<em>I&#8217;m hungry<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>I often heard the word &#8220;<em>yuck<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>She wasn&#8217;t gaining weight, nor was she really eating.<\/p>\n<p>I was a foodie, yet I sadly dreaded meals with daughter.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-3389 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.daniellebinns.com\/stagingsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_3266-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"655\" height=\"491\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.daniellebinns.com\/stagingsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_3266-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.daniellebinns.com\/stagingsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_3266-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.daniellebinns.com\/stagingsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_3266-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.daniellebinns.com\/stagingsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_3266-610x458.jpg 610w, https:\/\/www.daniellebinns.com\/stagingsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_3266-510x382.jpg 510w, https:\/\/www.daniellebinns.com\/stagingsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_3266-1080x810.jpg 1080w, https:\/\/www.daniellebinns.com\/stagingsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IMG_3266.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 655px) 100vw, 655px\" \/><\/p>\n<h3>But I was a Nutritionist and a mom who couldn&#8217;t accept this as our fate.<\/h3>\n<p>So I took the bull by the horns and dove into the literature and research on children&#8217;s eating. \u00a0I wanted to find out WHY my daughter was so picky and HOW to turn things around. \u00a0Of course, <strong>I was fearful she would be one of 30% of children whose &#8220;picky eating&#8221; persists into adult years.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At the time, I couldn&#8217;t see our life any other way: this was just the hand we were dealt. I wanted to smile and cry knowing how far she had come. \u00a0It helped her tremendously, but these 6 phases<strong> gave me confidence when<\/strong>\u00a0the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.daniellebinns.com\/stagingsite\/webinar\">picky eating habits<\/a> started to surface with my youngest daughter. \u00a0I knew EXACTLY what we needed to do. Nor do we want to overwhelm parents. \u00a0If I give you a long list of mealtime tweaks, it&#8217;s tough to commit to them. \u00a0<strong>That&#8217;s why I created (and use) this 6-phased proven approach to transform mealtimes. Be it protein, fat, fibre, iron, zinc, calcium, and the list goes on. \u00a0So this is what I tackle in the final phase with parents.
