However, it is only a blimp in time.<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><strong>It&#8217;s the s#$% that comes AFTER the birth that is reeeeeeally hard.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>That &#8220;ring of fire&#8221; I was dreading for months only lasts <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">minutes<\/span> in most cases.<\/div>\n<div>The transition of an unpredictable newborn in the 4th trimester lasts for\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">months<\/span>.<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>Even though I had been through the &#8216;new mom&#8217; phase before (twice), I forgot how draining the 4th trimester can be!<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><em>I felt like a sleep-walking zombie.<\/em><\/div>\n<div><em>I had to redefine productivity (showering 3x a week = success).<\/em><\/div>\n<div><em>I felt terrible not being able to give as much attention to my older girls.<\/em><\/div>\n<div><i>I cried (a lot).\u00a0<\/i><\/div>\n<div><em>I had no motivation to cook.<\/em><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>But we made it through unscathed.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<h3>Here are the 10 things that saved me in the 4th trimester:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Freezer meals and snacks.<\/strong>\u00a0Thoughtful family and friends stocked our fridge and cupboard with healthy grub including cookies <a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2tY1vXH\">like these<\/a>, crackers <a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2FVrDnu\">like these<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2FVrDnu\">,<\/a>\u00a0meat sticks <a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2DCEaub\">like these,<\/a>\u00a0grain-free granola <a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2G0ghCh\">like this,<\/a>\u00a0and other nutrient-dense foods <a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2FRivR2\">like these<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2GG6yPm\">these<\/a>. I&#8217;m a better person when I get that solid sleep, and have way more energy to keep up with my three littles.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2HJlHih\">Hydrasense<\/a><\/strong>. Probiotics, cod liver oil, a prenatal mutli, vitamin D, vitamin C and a B complex were my go-to&#8217;s.\u00a0 After having a baby it&#8217;s important for moms to round out our diet and boost our immune system so we can keep chugging along.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Smoothies and lots of water<\/strong>.\u00a0 I needed an easy, balanced breakfast I could whip together and drink with one hand (while holding a baby in the other).\u00a0 I made sure to include a ton of greens, easily digestible <a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2tYDboB\">collagen powder<\/a>\u00a0and good fats.\u00a0 A nursing mom needs those calories and extra hydration!\u00a0 When I didn&#8217;t, my skin\/lips, mental clarity, and digestion took a hit.<\/li>\n<li><strong>My husband.<\/strong> Who was a full-time (and AMAZING as always) parent with the older girls. He also stayed with the baby at night so I could bank a few hours of uninterrupted sleep. Going to miss the ladies at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.riverdalemidwives.com\/\">Riverdale Midwives<\/a>!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cabbage leaves and <a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2pnDB2u\">lecithin<\/a><\/strong>. To save my boobs and expedite their recovery during the engorgement phase (worst few days ever!).\u00a0Lecithin\u00a0is another supplement I had on hand to help prevent blocked ducts (as it appears to reduce the stickiness of breast milk).<\/li>\n<li><strong>My Picky Eater Protocol.<\/strong>\u00a0 Mealtimes used to be draining. Honestly, I&#8217;m not sure how I would survive meals with a newborn if I had finicky eaters to feed as well. I&#8217;m so glad we <a href=\"www.pickyeaterprotocol.com\">nipped picky eating in the bud<\/a> when Sienna was young. Today I can simply put the food on the table and the girls will sit and eat well if they are hungry. It&#8217;s not perfect all the time (as expected with 2 and 4 year olds) but it goes as smoothly as any parent would hope.
