for us.<\/p>\n<p>Our protein dish was already lined up (good ol&#8217; turmeric and lemon wild salmon), but it needed a veggie side.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t have the gusto to prepare more than one side so it had to be stellar.<\/p>\n<p>We had a cauliflower the size of my head taking up too much room in the fridge, so that was my first inspiration.\u00a0 Then\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dashingdish.com\/recipe\/crispy-buffalo-cauliflower\">this recipe<\/a> appeared and I got giddy. things.\u00a0 Even saying the &#8220;f&#8221; word makes me feel uncomfortable.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t panic!\u00a0 This recipe requires more of a saut\u00e9 versus a deep fry.\u00a0 You can also bake in the oven, although may not get the same texture.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>What do I love about this cauliflower popper?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>It&#8217;s crispy.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s simple to prepare.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.daniellebinns.com\/stagingsite\/mealplanspecial\/\">family-friendly<\/a> (and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.daniellebinns.com\/stagingsite\/work-with-me\/pickyeatermealplan\/\">picky eater friendly<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>It fulfills cravings for fried food without the downsides.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s cost-effective (just cauliflower and spices).<\/p>\n<p>It has a nutrient-rich veggie as its base (cauliflower is high in Vitamin C and other It&#8217;s ideal for adding moisture to gluten-free recipes (like making a fluffy pancake) and providing crispiness to pizza and pie crusts.\u00a0 However, it isn&#8217;t known for it&#8217;s nutritional value. That&#8217;s fine because cauliflower makes up for whatever tapioca is lacking.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Why families should eat cauliflower (and cruciferous veggies) <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">daily<\/span>:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.whfoods.com\/genpage.php?tname=foodspice&amp;dbid=13\">WHFoods recommends<\/a> consuming 3\/4 cup of cruciferous vegetables on a daily basis (or 5 cups a week) &#8211; cauliflower is in this category.\u00a0 \u00a0Therefore, when consumed at least once per week, cauliflower has been associated with decreased risk of colorectal cancer,\u00a0 prostate cancer, and cardiovascular diseases. Because of its ability to bind bile acids, intake of cooked cauliflower has also been linked to better regulation of blood cholesterol.\u00a0 Oh and it&#8217;s also one of the best sources of Vitamin C.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Nutrient booster:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Avoid boiling cauliflower and most veggies if you can. Just 3 minutes of cauliflower submersion in a full pot of boiling water is enough to draw out more phytonutrients than steaming for 10 minutes.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Mealtime Tip:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Dips work well for encouraging our kids to try new foods.
