I know it sounds a little woo-woo but I can feel it in my bones &#8211; it&#8217;s going to be an incredible year. <\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"zw-portion\" data-text-len=\"26\"><strong>As I started thinking about the year, I realized that my focus is usually <\/strong><em><strong>personal.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"zw-line-content\"><span class=\"zw-portion\" data-text-len=\"26\">Things *I* need to get better at.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">..<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"zw-line-content\"><span class=\"zw-portion\" data-text-len=\"26\">Things *I* need to do more or less of.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">..<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"zw-line-content\"><span class=\"zw-portion\" data-text-len=\"26\">But hold on a sec&#8230;\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"zw-paragraph\" data-width=\"624\" data-textformat=\"{&quot;size&quot;:12}\">\n<div class=\"zw-line-div\">\n<div>I&#8217;m not a one-woman show here.\u00a0 I have 4 other human beings around me everyday.\u00a0 Thus, it&#8217;s not a great year unless we are ALL thriving. I&#8217;m so passionate about raising healthy kids, but also kind, generous, strong, happy kids.\u00a0 And it&#8217;s a lot easier to do that <em>with<\/em> them.<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>So I&#8217;m changing my goal setting strategy this year and creating healthy habits for my family. In the end, I landed on 12 things that will help the Binns&#8217; family rock 2020 (and help your family rock too!).<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"zw-line-div\">\n<div>Instead of trying to do all 12 at once (cuz that&#8217;s just crazy!), we will take on one family goal each week.\u00a0 It gives us time to practice and make it part of our routine.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><strong>But wait. <\/strong><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><strong>Before I make a liar out of myself and share our 12 family goals, you should know that I <em>also<\/em> have personal goals.\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>Things I will do for me.<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>Some parents might feel selfish.\u00a0 Some might not have time.\u00a0 But taking care of myself means my family benefits.\u00a0 So one of our family goals is that mommy (and daddy) have the resources to feel awesome.<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>I mean, it&#8217;s obvious.<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>When I do the simple things I need to feel energetic, fit, strong, healthy, productive, I am a fricken fabulous mom, wife, sister, friend, neighbour, stranger.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not perfect, but I&#8217;m happier, relaxed, and way more fun. Plus I have the energy to keep going after putting these three little ones to bed.<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"zw-contentpane selectableSection\">\n<div class=\"zw-column-container\">\n<div class=\"zw-column\">\n<div><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-6321 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.daniellebinns.com\/stagingsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/IMG_3655-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Healthy Family habits \" width=\"441\" height=\"661\" \/><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>So I MAKE time for me.\u00a0 My family knows that it is a non-negotiable.<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>Heck, have you ever noticed how much more patient you are with your kids after a run or a workout?<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>Or how much kinder you are to your partner when you have a good day of eating?<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>Or how more control you feel when you don&#8217;t succumb to coffee\/sugar\/carb\/chocolate cravings at 3pm (or 8pm)?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>Like it or not, when we feel like crap, we treat ourselves and everyone else around us a little worse (or maybe it&#8217;s just me!).\u00a0 So the number one thing on our family list is all about me (and Keith).<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>That&#8217;s why this is my #1 goal for the year.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"zw-line-div\">\n<div class=\"zw-paginated zw-page\">\n<h1><strong>12 Healthy Habits for Families in 2020<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<h2 class=\"zw-line-content\"><span style=\"color: #33cccc;\"><span class=\"zw-bullet zw-bullet-order-list\">1. Since 1979, the rates of childhood obesity have tripled and continues to climb.\u00a0 With the combination of poor eating habits and excess screen time, it&#8217;s not just the kids who are struggling with weight, diabetes and other health issues.\u00a0 <\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"zw-line-content\"><span class=\"zw-portion\" data-text-len=\"1\">In the spirit of creating healthy family habits, being active every day is a must &#8211; and my kids are active as a result.\u00a0 They do karate with their dad 3x a week. We have a<\/span><span class=\"zw-portion\" data-text-len=\"24\"> public library nearby and are going to pop in every few weeks to get the girls excited about reading new books<\/span><span class=\"zw-portion\" data-text-len=\"67\">.\u00a0 I&#8217;m also loving the idea of <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2SXIjEf\">kids&#8217; audio books <\/a>for commuting or <\/span><span class=\"zw-portion\" data-text-len=\"2\">on <\/span><span class=\"zw-portion\" data-text-len=\"7\">the\u00a0go.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #ffffff;\">.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"zw-line-content\"><span class=\"zw-portion\" data-text-len=\"76\">With all these suggestions and tips, it is important to start small and <\/span><span class=\"zw-portion\" data-text-len=\"45\">build the habits slowly.
